Discover Carl's Music
Introducing my album, Pith and Vinegar. Ten of my best songwriting efforts to date, featuring my voice, violin and tenor guitar.
The formidable @isaacbarter took my sketches and added percussion, bass, a little electric guitar and his production wizardry and mix-mastery to colour a kaleidoscopic body of work I’m proud to share.
Stream-of-consciousness rants, yearning, snark, warmth, squealing fiddle solos and other assorted staples of my sound – they’re all here and I trust you will connect with my words and music in some way.
Big thanks to friends @kymadillon who iced several songs with some delectable work on keys, and @tommycastles who arranged, engineered, mixed, drummed, rattled and clapped on the frenetic instrumental closing track.
I also enlisted @germanoillustrations/ @germanoovani for album art, and he’s beautifully captured the dark, playful, dreamlike feel that permeates my songwriting.
Pith and Vinegar is available now on CD, or for download at Bandcamp. The physical albums showcase Germano’s lush illustrations and a booklet of lyrics, so send me a DM or email and I’ll send one to you for around $20 plus postage (or come and say hi at a gig!)
If streaming is more your thing, you can check out a four-song sampler featuring Trilobite, Filaments, Doubt of the Benefit and Close Enough on all platforms.
